What I do
Walls, ceilings and woodwork. Filling, sanding and caulking done before a brush touches anything.
Cornice, ceiling roses, picture rails and panelling, decorated without clogging the detail.
Mist coats and full systems, so the finish binds properly instead of peeling in a year.
Preparation, repair and repainting of sashes, doors, fascias and porches.
Hanging and lining, including the awkward walls older houses tend to have.
Help choosing colours that suit the light and the age of the room, before committing to five litres.

Paints
Dulux Trade for the finish and the wear; Farrow & Ball for an enhanced colour range.
The big change since the mid-2000s, when I was painting homes in Kensington and Chelsea and Farrow and Ball was simultaneously winning the hearts of clients and the ire of decorators, is the colour matching ability of Dulux.
Today, while the desirability of the F&B tones remains, it’s the utility of the Dulux range that is so helpful. From Vinyl and Ultra Matt, to Diamond and Durable Eggshell, to Mouldshield and Quick Dry, it’s my opinion Dulux goes on better and further. That’s a win for both you and me.
Am I resolute on the matter? Not quite, but my recommendations will be leaning strongly in one direction, such that, if you know your colour, I’m confident we can match what you love to brilliant effect!
